First, rap is NOT music. There is no melody or harmony, just a bunch of jerk-offs talking to a beat. Any idiot can do that. Second, rap does have a message -- kill all whites and don't respect anything. Not the law, not your parents, not authority figures, not even yourself. Did I mention the fact that it totally sucks @$$?!?!!

I beg to differ listen to the Snoop Dogg "Fresh pair of panties on", the rhythm and accompaniment is chilling, plus rap lyric are funny as hell! I'm joking, rap is not music. but this is Hilarius!!

Artist: Snoop Dogg
Album: R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece
Song: Fresh Pair of Panties On

It's time to slow it down, steadily grindin
And this is, the big Doggy Dogg..

And I ain't talkin about no Air Force Ones
I just gotta know, before you let me get some

[Chorus]
Do you have a fresh pair of panties on?
I got to know, or you could show, me
Silk cotton see-through lace your sexy thong
I got to know, or you could show, me

[Snoop Dogg]
Freak-a-leek, peak peak
Let a ***** sneak a few, peek-a-boo
Let's see what we can do
I'm bout freakin you, and sneakin you
Into a quiet place
So I can look at it face to face
Let me guess, you prefer to wear cotton
I can tell, cause you like squattin
Your last dude, he was so rotten
And now your love is to be gotten
Yeah baby girl I can read your mind
But what I'm really tryin to do is ready between your pantylines
I know it seems oh so personal
But I'm just tryin to make you feel real comfortable
I know, so, what will it be?
And the type of underwear you wear I mean it's troublin me
Can I get a glimpse, one for the pimps?
I got one question, answer me this then

[Chorus]

[Snoop Dogg]
You came by the chuuch with a whole lot of body
Got invited to our annual pajama party
Workin that lace, I think it was the French cut
Yeah *****, you got a big ol' butt
Hidin it, should be dividin it
It's real tight now but I got a way to widen it
And slide in it, real smooth like
with a little bit of Miles Davis to get you in the mood like
zoom boom hit the poom-poom right
Just to get your groove right
I can make it happen, but it can't happen if you ain't good at it
When you gon' let a ***** have a look at it?
Callin all cars, yeah baby girl you a star
But it's on you if you wanna go real far
Now let me get a glimpse, one for the pimps
I, have one question, answer me this

[Chorus]

NO it's poetry with music. I don't understandy why some people don't appreciate. It's an art form. IF you like poetry, then how you do you not like rap? It makes plenty of sense, but if it doesnt to you, then don't listen to it. It takes a lot of talent to come up with words that rhyme off the top of your head. And isn't some rock more like screaming than muisc??

It probably doesn't make sense to you because it doesn't touch on any of your experiences or pertain to your life or style. It makes sense to me, so please say "it doesn't make any sense TO ME." because it does make sense to many people.

Anyway, rap is based on spoken word, which is not necessarily music on its own. The music backing it as well as the lyrical way rapping is performed is all that makes it music. Otherwise, it would be nothing more than reading a poem.

No, rap is using the voice as a rhythmic instrument rather then a melodic instrument.

*****************

Liking rap or disliking it is an opinion, but the FACT is that it is music, whether you like it or not. People didn't like Rock and Roll in the 50's and said it wasn't music. I am going to assume that you like Rock and Roll even though it wasn't considered music by some people back then.

Raps roots are jazz, blues and bee bop. Do some research. Like it or don't like it, but remember that anything that encompasses rhythm, rhyme and/or melody is music.

yes thats why its called RAP music. RAP means to express yourself with someone in a conversation, why not with music. some make sense, some don't. don't listen or judge if you don't like

No one in rap has anything original or interesting to say. Sadly, that's true with most music out today.

Yeah the new school rap isn't the same like it used to be. Listen to some 2Pac & Bone Thugs then u will hear what makes sense they talk about life.

Here is my take on Rap
2 Words, Not Music
Why is it not Music?? Because Rap is all sounds from a computer, a man/woman and a Microphone. Sure I give props to freestyleist since that is a skill, pulling words off hte top of your head, making them rhyme. But Any other type of music is made, Rock uses Guitar, Drums, Bass, whatever else. Which is all Man power and not made by Machines. The only time I listen to rap is if I feel like kicking the crap outta someone :)
