Remember right after September 11th, 2001, when we all had pride and swung our flags around. When we loved our neighbor and our country. Do any of you feel like we should go back to that. It pisses me off that it's 5 years later and no one seems to remember. Any one with me????

I am with you. I remember that time and people had flags on their homes, automobile grills, windows, businesses, fairgrounds, and just about everywhere you could hang a flag. I still do. I have a red, white and blue ribbon alternating with yellow ribbons as my son is in Iraq at age 20. I'll never forget and it if he comes home in a body bag, I'll promptly have a nervous breakdown. They key word here is G-R-E-E-D. Proud to be an American although my son is in danger~ Aria

I think its sad it took 9/11/2001 for that to happen in the first place!

I think it was more "fashionable" to be proud of America and to display flags after 9/11. Look at all the country stars who banked off the tragedy and trend of Americana with their #1 hits.

I myself, have flown a 13 star Besty Ross flag in my yard prior, during, and post 9/11. It was tragic and horrible but it proves how far away we have gotten from this great countries origins. That's what my 13 star flag represented the whole time.

That is our country's major downfall, and quit possibly, it will also cause our country to eventually divide or secede or whatever.... partisanship. I've been to many countries, and nowere have I seen such utter hatred and lack of unity .... other than sunnis and shiites. Here parties go against each other as a manner of principle... despite whatever may be best for us all. It's surprising that the country even marches ahead.... yes, I often think of the days after 911, and think they are the best this place has had in decades....

Agree! Life has a way of going on and we block unpleasantries out of our minds.
Personally, I'd like the media to do more reporting on the survivor, their families and the lost and their families than I care to see about Jonbenet's killer.
A lot more children in America have been murdered equally as horrendous, or more so, but they are never mentioned after a few days. Why is Jonbenet's murder different?
Look at the losses of 911. So very SAD.

i'm with you. Talk about one nation under God. How can that be true when we still argue with each other about skin color here. If you asked me, nothing ever changed. We just fell into the Hype for a while then things calmed down back to normal. No one wants to support activities to unite us all together. And its harder and harder to find people who support our troops. Its sad that in such a developed country we still have so many people with small ideas.

I agree. I think we were all nicer to each other and waving our flags and having candle lit ceremonies to remember people etc. It's a shame that we have forgotten it. I wonder why it takes a tragedy to pull us all together in the first place.

difference: two wars, world alienation, massacres of civilians, torture, suppression of dissent, illegal wiretaps.....

you're the type who would still wave the flag when you're own son dies because his country didn't provide him with the right armor.....

instead of waving the flag, how about understanding that the flag means freedom above any event; not "I will never apologize for the United States of America. I don't care what the facts are." - GHWB in 1988.

Tragedy brings people together. It's not cool that only tragedy can have such an effect, but it's reality. But, yeah, the nation sticking together was neat. I want the WORLD to stick together and understand each other. Now, that's wishful thinking. Lolz.
