it's 100% normal. During the 1st trimester, her body is working on overdrive to prepare for the baby. She'll feel better in her 2nd trimester and will probably get tired again around the end of her 3rd. She'll need all the rest she can get at that time. You want her to have energy to give birth.

Congratulations!

It is quite normal for a pregnant female to feel fatigue or sleepy. Pregnant females should get at least 10 hours of sleep instead of 8. The baby is using a lot of the mother's energy which causes fatigue. During the rest of the pregnancy, your girlfriend will become sleepier than before. She may want to take a nap during the afternoon.

Yeah at about 4 weeks I was started getting very tired. Even with a full nights sleep I would take naps in the day. Her body is working over time to make the little baby. :)

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Yes, totally normal. There's so many hormones flying around your body in the first trimester your body makes you sleep to cope with it. I used to fall asleep anywhere (narcolepsy) and at anytime. Even when I was at work. Luckily I had understanding work colleagues who put up with it (laughed at me actually). Don't worry, everything is fine. Be more worried if she wasn't sleeping.

This is VERy normal!! I remember being tired my entire 1st trimester and then again at the end of my pregnancy. Good for her on eating, sleeping, and exercising correctly. She needs to take good care of herself and that baby.

CONGRATS!!!

my best advice to you is take her word on it, every pregnancy is differant I know that my cousin who is also pregnant has had alot of symptoms that I have not had so make sure your not comparing two differant pregnancies. She complained of tiredness in the first trimester where I was fine, now in the 3rd I am the one always tired she is full of energy.
