Maybe you need the area code.
My area 1-(310) is now required to type in the area code as well as the phone number. Without the area code, the phone number by itself may not work. If your friends phone number still doesnt work, try going to her house or ask other people (friends)

I would go by house, if she has job, I would visit her at work. you can email her, write her a letter and put in the mailbox. You can call her on her cell phone, or we can wait to see her when school starts.
