I have read mostly everything by Stephen King but are there some good authors out there that don't get too much into the supernatural like King does?

If you want horror with out the supernatural try James Patterson, John Saul has some good ones, but they tend to be supernatural. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs scoot around the supernatural but usually try to rationalize the events in the end. Dean Koontz is supernatural but he is an awesome author. Mary Higgens Clark. Try logging on to Amazon and it will recommend authors and give a synopsis of the book that will let you determine whether or not it is something that you would like to read and then based on the preferences you have shown it will recommend other authors and books for you to review.

Phil Rickman gets into the supernatural, but, if this makes sense, a more "realistic" supernatural...one of my favorite authors. Melanie Tem has written a few entirely un-supernatural novels.

Peter Straub
Clive Barker-he does supernatural stuff too.
I'd go with H.P. Lovecraft but his stuff is supernatural too.

A lot of horror brushes into the supernatural.

Dean Koontz. He writes horror, but emphasizes the power of good. A good one is Phantoms.

I don't really like horror stories, but I do know one. His name is RL Stine. I'm not sure you have heard of him, though. ehehehe
