I just got a job on a sports radio show. I am very knowledgeable about sports. I just need some input on what people would like to hear.

Any input you have would be great

I live in DFW-we have the most successful sports radio station in the nation here-the Ticket-1310 AM

This is the top rated station in the market for ALL LISTENERS 24-56.

Why are they so popular? They just talk about stuff that guys talk about (girls too), do gags, pranks and mix it in w/sports.

Some popular skits are:
Doable or Not Doable? A hot girl has to go in studio and admit whether she would sleep with the hosts.
The Overcusser- a reporter who peppers all of his questions to athletes with over the top profanity.
The Redundant Man of redundancy-who asks the same question of an athlete in a slightly different way again and again.
Gay or Not Gay? 2 hosts take questions for callers concerning whether their behavior is gay-definition-behavior that should cause a heterosexual man discomfort and embarrassment.

Hell-we even have our own language-decoded in a book called the "tickionary."

Do you get the idea?

Big name guests do not equal ratings-they are boring without some fun.

So make it fun and involve the audience.

Check out the Ticket here in DFW if you have the chance.

Do a call-in show and let the listeners discuss and debate different topics like the college football polls, the NFL, and try talking about the Ultimate fighting championship. It's getting really big now and I'm sure a lot of people would like to hear about it and debate that, too.

Salary caps for Major League Baseball. The Mets and Yankees are both in first place, and both probably have the highest salaries in baseball. I've been a Yankiee fan since 1966, yet I live in the NYC area, and baseball today bores me. Can't wait for football to start in September, at least there's a salary cap, and any team in the league could end up wining the Super Bowl.

the hot topic that anyone will have an opinion on is TO or steriods in baseball. You can bring Barry Bonds or if you think Mark McGuire will get into the hall of fame and the phone lines will light up. Use those as fall backs on dead sports days

first off, do NOT be like Kenny Roda. hes a sports jock here in cleveland oh. he sucks by the way. he will say one thing one day then after hes wrong he will go back on his word or whatever his prediction was and start making up excuses. just be up front, be real and admit it if you were wrong about something. dont tell the callers they are dumb if they say something dumb. everyone else listening will do that for you.

Announce the game. In Baseball make every inning sound like 9th in tie game between Yanks and Mets. Save the other stuff for blow out games or delays.
Make every college football play sound like Penn State USC game. Didn't like ending but that was best college game seen
Make every NFL play like two minute drill in tie game between Eagles and Steelers.

Contest or Call in Trivia.... people love to answer questions
and show off their knowledge.
Even if there is no pay-off.
HEY, kinda like this Question&Answer thing, right?

I think that if your show format icludes any type of call in segment, your audience will guide you.
Other than that, right now, it's all about the football, baby!

i listen to espn on sirius and they seem to address the hottest rumors first. calls are then taken, followed by a lot of hypothesis about how favorite players or teams are going to do.

they would probably like to hear about drafts, trades, injuries, etc. basically anything that would take them longer to find out
