You need to take it completely apart, and wash it thoroughly. I am talking about pullin the door off the hinges, and pulling out every compartment. I had to do the same thing when the RV broke down, and the frig stopped working.

Clean the refrigerator well with a mixture of baking soda and water, dry it out and put a piece of regular charcoal inside on a piece of newspaper or paper towel. Leave it closed up for a few days and when you open it, the smell should be gone.

I once worked in a fish processing plant, and used white vinegar as a pre soak, then rinsed, before detergent washing to get the fishy smell out of my work clothes.
I would try scrubbing the fridge out with the vinegar.

My freezer accidentally got unplugged once, and some fish spoiled. The smell was AWFUL!!
I filled a shallow baking pan with enough baking soda to cover the bottom (to increase the surface area), and put it inside. It took a while, but eventually the smell was gone! You couldn't even tell.
GOOD LUCK!!

Try wiping it out w/white vinegar or baking soda and water. You could try putting charcoal in a bowl in the refrigerator. It should absorb the odors. You could also try a solution of laundry bleach and water.

Happy cleaning! :)

I would suggest putting a box of baking soda in the fridge to absorb the odor. I've always been told it keeps odors out, and will keep an unused fridge from becoming musty. Newspaper might work too, since I've put that in my fridge whenever I'm not using it.

baking soda will work...but I also know that dabbing some vanilla extract on a cotton and putting inside the fridge or refrigerator..will take away any bad smell. I was surprised at first..but it did work!
