There has been a website gratis network, that has been giving out ipods and many other cool items for free. All you have to do is complete a simple offer that is like nothing, and refer 5 or more friends to do the same. Do you think I should do this? and will i actually get one?

EDIT - Ok here is the link I am supposed to use, if you can please click it so i can see if this actually does work.

It is pretty much a scam. You have to sign up for 3 or 4 things, and hope that these providers tell Gratis that you signed up. Sometimes they do, sometimes not. In the meantime, your email address will be majorly spammed.

Then you have to get 5 friends to do it. They get spammed. At some point pretty quickly, people realize they've run out of friends who will give away their email address and credit card information. So perhaps a few of you will qualify for free iPods but most of you won't. The iPods you get are refurbished units that sell on the open market for about half of what they cost new. So is it worth trusting your email address and credit cards to complete strangers (and asking your friends to do the same) so that you can get something worth $150 or less? I don't think so.

There some success stories, but when you Google search on Gratis Network, this is typical of the story you find: http://www.gratisnetworksucks.com/

If you don't mind signing up for crap you don't want and risking your credit cards, then go ahead.

I have received an iPod from this company. I have also received a 27" television. Unfortunately, since receiving these items (over a year ago) their company has drastically gone down hill. A previous commenter listed a support ticket answer that she received from Gratis. I received the SAME message on multiple accounts in regards to my pending item shipments.

With Gratis it's hit or miss. It's hard to find 5 people to sign up for a freeipods.com account these days because everyone has one. Make sure that you don't 'walk' anyone through the sign up process and also make sure that you keep a very close eye on the Terms of Service, they’re shifty people who constantly ratify it to get away with things.

Gratis WILL screw you over, it's just a matter of time before they actually do it. They’ve made their millions…it doesn’t matter what they do anymore, they’re set for life - the bastards.

I've been waiting since APRIL for my Digital Camera. My order is processing, and has been processing, but their company is so 'backed up' on orders its ridiculous.

If you do a quick google search you’ll come across a key item that you really do need to know about this company: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/03/ny_gratis.html

Yes, they sold a multi-million-listing email database and continued to deny it.

There are plenty of legitimate companies out there. I would not recommend sticking with Gratis for long.

Don’t even bother completing an offer. They can easily put your account on hold, or just reject valid referrals for reasons they will not discuss with you…they STILL GET PAID for you signing up under their name. All they care about is themselves.

I wish you luck.

This company is a complete and total scam. I have been waiting since May for my "free iPod" and finally got an email back today stating:

Thank you for contacting FreePay Customer Service. Our Fulfillment Department has received your order. Once an order has been placed, it is added to a queue on a first come first served basis. We currently do not carry excess inventory in our fulfillment center therefore your product is not ordered from the manufacturer until it has been placed. Furthermore, orders are bundled together and ordered in bulk typically on a monthly basis. Therefore we are unable to provide a specific timeframe. Currently, we are experiencing delays of up to 90 days. We realize that this is beyond your normal expectation. These steps are necessary in order for us to continue to provide free products to our customers. We recognize this may further delay receipt of your product but want to assure you of our commitment to honor all legitimate orders. We apologize that further inquiries into this matter can not be processed; as there is no additional information available until your order status has changed from “pending”, “processing”, or “in progress” to “shipped”. Please note that our Fulfillment Department is currently processing all placed orders dating back to April 2006. We appreciate your continued patience. Sincerely, The FreePay Customer Service Team

I would recommend that everyone stay as far away from this company as possible. They use every excuse you can imagine not to deliver on their promise!
