Money is so addictive because of the power that having money creates. With money you can buy all the material things that you need to survive and lots of material things that just make living life more fun. People will gravitate towards you if you have lots of money. You will be given more free rides if you have lots of money. So you will crave more money because you like the perks that come with money. People want to be powerful and money makes them feel that way. A broke person has to have a strong faith and/or sense of self to feel powerful and broke people are more likely than not to be overlooked and condemned. Who wants that? Hence, money is addictive...and what an addiction it is.

Because, among many other reasons: it provides you with the means for inmediate satisfaction of your wants and desires. It's adictive if you make money the only fountain of happiness, which is really not. money is necesary and not esential to live or to be happy, there are things more valuable in life than money but our culture is an acquisition based one where the more you have the better you are and the better off you are. this gives you the false conclusion that if you don't make good money you are a looser or you are not good enough, which is not true. Is this lack of self knowledge and lack of true slef perception as an integral individual that makes us prone to be money hungry because is the only thing that makes us some satisfaction, although certainly not happy in the true sense of the word.

Nearly everybody has a point where the money is "too much." They just don't think of it, because it's too easy to get rid of huge sums of money.
