I think that "much" of what hip hop and reggaeton is now are crap. I say this because "some"rappers only rap about how much of a player they are (having like 10 semi-naked women dancing around). Don't even get me started with Daddy Yankee. Don't get me wrong I respect Daddy Yankee, but his songs such as "rompe", "gasolina", and "machucando"(and that song that he did with snoop dogg) are pointless. I don't really know the meanings to the songs, but I have a feeling that they are about sex except the one with snoop dogg which is clearly about survival of the fittest (which clearly tells the viewer you have to be tough and do whatever you want to do). It's really pathetic when a rapper sells material which promote sex and violence. I like reggaeton and I'm not a hater. I espacially like the song by Rakim&KenY, especially "Down". Now in the case of Young Joc, well he's not even a good rapper and he makes "It's going down" which promotes violence with those lyrics. What do you think

Don't you just hate it when your little cousins and brothers buy into that. I know that if I don't like that music then I could just not listen to it, but if we don't do something it will eventually get worse.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss my brother, Jake. Still, I'm glad he's not here today to see what's become of r&b. When I compare the heartfelt stylings of Wilson Pickett or Ray Charles to today's soul-less gansta rappers, I want to scream at my brothers and sisters of color and say "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING OF?!!"

The r&b artists that I know and love sang from the heart, always trying to expell that gut-wrenching pain that came from living in an unfair world. Now I see booty and gold chains, and these young people seem to have no awareness of the terrible price that was paid by the legends that came before them.

I was there when Ray, and Buddy, and Wison, and Otis, were made to feel like less of a man because of their skin tone. Using the back door, seperate bathrooms, seperate drinking fountains, seperate dining facilities: these were the elements that shaped the beautiful music that told the story of hope and pain for all the world to hear and love. They took their hatred and fused it into love, and it crossed over all boundaries of race, color or creed, shaping our entire culture.

I've had my say. Now, I will retire to some white toast, dry, and some Muddy Waters on a scratchy L.P.

well to make a point not every white person listens to country and not every african american listens to rap/r&b cuz i know a guy who is african american and likes jazz, it is whatever makes you feel good when you listen to it of course i do not think it is right to be promoting drugs, violence, and sex but there are ppl out there that have good music and are in the same genra. i love all kinds of music, i am into what you would call "emo" bands, i mean not scary goth but like Fall Out Boy and panic! at the disco, even though i do not agree with him using GD in "i write sins not tragedies" if you listen to the rest f their music they also agree with some of the crap that ppl are doing now a days! get their cd and really focus on the words! music is really important to me and i hope you understand where i am coming from!

Well, I try to ignore Pop, R&B, Rap, Hip-Hop and Raggae. I stick to today's Rock, Emo, Punk, Punk Revivalist, Metal, Goth, etc. music. Whilest still listening to old music at the same time. I like Classical, but I understand why others don't. If you dislike the rap and shitty stuff like that then change to a rock or metal channel. Find something you do like.

I agree that a lot of the new rap music has horrible and stupid lyrics about sex and violence, thats why I only listen to old school rap like Run DMC and old De La Soul.

I agree totally. People will make whatever sells. This perpetuates a constant circle of an ever-increasing "pop" music. It is dumbing down our culture.

If it sells and it's on the radio, generally, it's "pop." Even Gangsta rap is pop although it is more or less aimed at one particular group.

Most kids these days don't realize that rap, at first, wasn't totally about slappin ho's and killin bltches.

the ONLY music worth really listening to is live music. everything else has had its spirit digitized and edited out of it.

A couple of guys with a piano and guitar in a backstreet bar are singing because they want to. It is their self-expression. Bands cutting CDs by the million are just in it for the money. They are as much about creativity as Corn Flakes.

Its is too digital to planned, its an investment for the big guys so they use a template. the real rock is umungst us the real living breathing, living, loving people that let it all out cause they can. we say it like it is. Rock forever. The rock is still Alive. it is inside. So the music of today is not as good as it was accept for bands like Disturbed. You have to have what they want, and be the only place that they can get it.
