you didnt erase your sound you just need the drivers for your sound card
if you have integrated sound which mean it is attached to your motherboard then you need to go to your mobos manufacturers website and get the driver or if you have a dell or hp or name brand pc you can go to there website and download the dirver for it
if you have a sound card not attached to the mobo then go to the soundcards manufacturers website and get the driver

All you need to do is install Windows 2000 drivers for your sound card. So, you need to know what sound card is in your computer, then go to the manufacturer's website and download the Windows 2000 drivers for it.

Also, you can try doing ADD HARDWARE in the CONTROL PANEL to see if Win2000 will detect it.

That happened to me when I reinstalled Win 98 SE...With a different disc...I lost sound.

I went and bought a new sound card for $25.00 and installed it...

It was not complicated...Great instructions.

Now, I have 4.1 sound on a system that has no idea what to do with it...LOL
