I'm renting a duplex, and need to install an invisible fence for my dog, who is a dachshund/Jack Russell cross. Has anyone had experience doing this, and if so, how hard and what kind of tools are need to put in the fence? Thanks in advance!

Three months ago I put in an Invisible fence by myself. The act of hooking everything up is very easy, it is not technical at all. The act of burying all that wire sucked. I ran 2000' of wire (I have a lot of land and two dogs that love to run) and it was a long long weekend. I used all of these, Pickax, shovel, spade, tamping bar, hoe, rake. I think the pickax worked best but it was still a lot of work. Three months later I am glad I did it all. I didn't want a traditional fence, and this works great with yellow lab and aust Shepperd. Good luck

This type of fencing is not all it's cracked up to be. One problem seen many times over, is that the pet will see something on the other side, and run right through the line. Hoping that the pet doesn't get hit by a moving vehicle, it now wants to come back home (a little slower, than it left). Thus the problem, the shock keeps the pet on the outside, it wants back in your yard, but can't get back because of the shocking.

If you love this animal, and don't want to lose it, you would be far better off, spending the same $300. to 400.00 on a large pen.

No, all you need is a shovel to bury the wire loop and a screwdriver to mount the box.

I have never.....but a buddy of mine did and he says that it is not very hard....just follow the directions to the letter or you might have problems with the system working.

Be sure to bury the line so that you don't do like my friend and run the lawnmower over it!
