Can you replace laminate with a different color laminate, using the same counter/wood? I have off white laminate right now and I want to change it to black. Do I have to replace the whole countertops or can I peel off the existing one I have right now and replace it with black? Or can I put the black one right over it? Please help

sure can.
Just peal off the old one and glue the new one down.
You will probably have to sand a bit to get a smooth surface before gluing.

If the old laminate is coming loose anywhere you need to remove it first. Also, if you put new laminate over it, you do run the risk of the old laminate coming loose beneath it. Your best bet is to remove the old laminate first. After doing that, depending on what kind of condition the subsurface is in, you may want to put down a layer of Luan to give your new top a good smooth surface to adhere to. That will also ensure that your new countertop's work surface is smooth.

Probably easier to just replace the whole thing - a bit of expense rather than a great deal of (wasted) effort. The original laminate was put on under very high pressure - can you match that pressure in your kitchen to get the same effect? You'll end up needing to replace it again before long.

You do not need to take off the old laminate, just make sure it it tight and put new right over the old. You can also put tile on top of laminate, (and it is usually easier than appling new laminate.)

You can install new laminate over existing providing the existing top feels sound and with no imperfections. This will transfer to the new laminate. You can also even damage it with a belt or palm sander. Sand the old top by hand with medium grit sandpaper before you glue the new one on.
Good luck

You can place the new laminate over the existing just sand the old first to rough it up so the glue will stick

should be no problem as long as the wood underneath is in good shape. if there leaks in the laminate the wood can get rotted. just be forewarned, laminate doesn't always come off very nicely.

Depends on the condition of the one in place. I would not put the new on top of the old but you should be able to get the old off with a heat gun (be very careful). Then you could just put the new over the wood.

No. It is really easy to get the old counter top off (wood and all)...its only a few nails. You can buy a new countertop kit at home depot for pretty cheap (like 50$) and install it yourself. it is really easy, i just did it in my house.

You'll need to peel off the old first and sand the surface down with medium sandpaper. This will get it smooth and remove whatever is left of the old adhesive.
