My husband is employed at a farm. We cannot find anything about the actual rules regarding him driving semis transporting the crops from the field and such. We've been told it is legal without a CDL if within 150 miles of the farm and the truck is registered with farm plates...but we're not sure that is entirely true. We live in Indiana and I have searched the internet for answers but can't really find anything clear-cut. He has a regular drivers license with a Chauffers endorsement, but no CDL. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Contact your local DMV, they will have all the information required.

well if i were you i would call the Indiana DOT and see what they say but in Oklahoma as long as it as a farm tag on you dont need a CDL to drive it as long as you dont leave a 100 air mile radius of you base. but call the DOT they will be able to help you more then i can cause like someone else said on here every state is different

The laws are different...some places..under 24000 gvw is ok(non-cdl),. for a semi...i'd want to check with someone . ( i would figure needing a cdl)..other than over the net..... IF&A..would be the best bet.
