A Major Credit Card (Visa, Master, American Express, Discover)
...be over 25 (although some places will let you rent if you're 21, and you pay a surcharge).

P.S. The credit card must be a true credit card, they will not accept debit cards with the Master or Visa logo.
P.P.S. And as Elvia said below - she is wrong - you absolutely do NOT have to buy their insurance, unless it is a stipulation for underage renters (if you're under 25).
I'm in the airlines, I rent 40-50 cars a year. I prefer Thrifty, then Alamo, then Enterprise for the best service. Hertz and Avis are just TOO expensive.

Credit card in your name with $500 in available credit, Valid drivers Liscense, and depending on if you are going to take out insurance you may need a copy of your current car insurance. For most companies you need to be 25 some allow you to be 21 but the charge you more because you are higher risk.

in Texas, you have to be a minimum of 25 years of age, you need your Driver License, Insurance, and a credit card. that's all, I think. If you don't have insurance, you can usually buy insurance from the car rental place.

But you should give back on third day or Extend......
