my '97 Grand Am won't turn! i replaced the starter and bought a brand new battery. And still won't start/turn. This car was given to me so I don't know the story behind it. But the engine was "extremely" over filled with oil. I drained about 20 quarts of motor oil. What can I possible do next? Is really been a nightmare for me,and I would like to see it running one day. Can anybody give me some advice?? Thank You,thank You,thank You.

Remove all belts. Take out all spark plugs. Turn engine by hand. (big socket on the crankshaft) if it turns ok. Check all pullies for spin alt,a/c,waterpump,etc... if not darn.

With that much oil in there it is possible that you also have oil in the cyclinders. You could try to take the plugs out plugs and turn it over by hand. Won't the previous owner tell you what problem he had? It seems like they wanted to fill the whole crankcase with oil to hopefully free something up

You usually have to replace alternator when you replace starter. I'd also look at the distributor cap - may be too oil-logged.

remove the spark plugs and then try to turn it over, by hand, if it still doesnt turn then something could be bent or locked up

CHECK RADIATOR, IF IT IS A MILKLY LOOKING COLOR ALSO WHEN YOU DRAIN THE OIL WAS IT MILKLY. IF IT WAS THE BLOCK IS PROBLEMLY CRACK. THAT IS WHY IT HAD SO MUCH OIL.
