You mean if smoke burn... Smoke itself will not burn, but it can be so hot that it can make materials burn. Smoke is more dangerous than the fire itself. Mostly smoke is caused by chloride in PVC...that if you spray with water dangerous gasses will be around. Chloride will mix with the H in H2O it makes HCL...these gasses can distroy the metal in concrete wall!!!
Smoke also travels with a speed of 50km per hour..that is faster than men can run!!!

If you are asking if smoke an catch on fire, the answer is yes. What you see as smoke are the unburned particles from the flame, often due to the inadequate supply of oxygen.

Try this:

Take two tapered candles and newspaper print or something to catch the drippings. Light both of them and allow to burn for a minute or so.
The next step require a bit of practise and timing, so try it a couple of times.
Blow out one candle and with the other candle, place the flame in the smoke plume about an inch over the extinguished wick. The flame will travel down the smoke plume and light the lower candle again!

I don't think so, because the heat from the fire keeps the smoke rising. But then again if it wasn't for the fire you wouldn't have the smoke!

Usually when you see excessive smoke and no flame it's because the material either has not reached it's kindling heat or is not getting enough oxygen. In either case it is always possible for the material to ignite therefore having fire.So in a way the answer to your question is yes.At least I didn't say where there's smoke there's fire.I guess I didn't say that because it's not true.

In the case of a candle, the wax vaporizes as smoke, and will not burn until it vaporizes. The burning wax smoke produces the fire.

No. Smoke is a by-product of the fire and has too much carbon monoxide to survie in a fire.
