My son enjoys playing on his PS2 with me but it gets frustrating when only one of us can play at a time. What are the best 2 player co-operative or split screen games for a 6 year old spiderman fan (not to mention his 31 year old dad!)

I'm sure you wouldn't want your son playing games with blood and gore. That certainly would be a bad idea, but if you have him playing any of the spider man games, I can safely assume that you are okay with your son playing teen rated games, with a little bit of violence (fighting).

A great game to try, that I have played on Xbox, is X-men Legends, or X-men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse. This would meet the desires your son probably has to play as superheros, defeating "bad guys".

However, it is good for you as well because instead of pitting you against your son, you will be able to work together as you unfold the story to this action RPG.

This is a better than average hack and slash, improve your character, type game, and the gameplay is quite good. This will give you hours of gameplay, and when you complete it, you may just feel compelled to retry many of the levels.

This game has received an 8.5/10 on IGN. It is not any more violent than any of the spiderman video games, and will allow you to spend time working together with your son, and spending a lot of time with him. I suggest purchasing the original game before progressing to the second one, because it is pretty much the same game, and you can save some money.

If you would like, you can find game reviews that will elaborate upon my details for the first or second game at:

If you don't mind him playing mature games Killzone is a really good co-op game, but it does have blood in it, so if you want to keep it a little more at a children's level I would suggest x-men legends since you mentioned the spiderman games. I also saw that the Star Wars Battlefront games were mentioned and that would also be a good one to pick up. And you might not be into this, but the Dance Dance Revolution games I find particularly fun, but those aren't for everyone.

Pretty much any of the Star Wars games.
Battlefront
Battlefront 2
Jedi Starfighter
Clone Wars
Etc.

They usually have a head-to-head or Co-Op mode. Plus they're Star Wars so they aren't over-the-top gore.
