It will take you a good part of the day to get there. Why don't you fly to Knoxville?

Its a good couple of hours or more by car. Dollywood (Pidgeon Forge TN) is actually a lot closer to Knoxville TN. (download google earth and see for yourself) A better day trip from Nashville would be to Opryland Hotel (only about ten miles) its pretty impressive.

There are some nice attractions closer in, near Chattanooga, like Rock City (I recommend it!), Ruby Falls, and the Chattanooga & Chickamauga battlefield site. There's also a tourist railroad-- I forget the name exactly, but they call it the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Its about a 4 hour drive that is if you don't get lost on your way there, but its pretty much a straight shot there on I-40.
