I had the same problem with my car. Try holding the key all the way in the start position for a prolonged period of time. It seemed that my car used to start after I held the key in that position for a few long seconds.

Take your car back to the mechanic & ask what he did to change the system. Ask him to change it back so that you can use your car again. Some theft systems have a valet setting. You can use that to get your car started & back to the mechanic. I had one do that to mine, change the system. I got him to change it back too once I returned to the mechanic shop. I also signed a statement that prohibits the mechanics from changing my setting without calling me first. Any mechanic worth his price & time will look for a valet setting before starting any repairs.

Go get a new key that is compatible with the car. Or you could pay the mechanic every time this happens.

Sounds like a problem in the electrical components of the theft system. Take it back to your dealer and they will fix it. If not still under warranty hope you bought the Extended coverage.

Well, I think you should buy a Fusion (R) alarm system. Go to Fry's outpost.com, do you see where it says: Car Electronics? Move your mouse cursor over to it and wait a little until a Car Electrronics list scrolls down. You'll see where it says: Car Security and Radars, click on that, then go to Security systems and go all the way down and you'll see a security system called: Fusion F-2000 Basic Car Security System. I think you should buy that.

I think you just answered your own question. Call the Chevy dealer you bought it from or the closest Chevy dealer to you.
You may be able to disengage the alarm if you unlock the door on the inside. Could work.

Try getting in and shutting the door, then try to disarm it. I've noticed this in suburu's- if you accidentally hit the button while you are in the car that light will keep flashing.
