I am having difficulties deciding what to wear on the first day, is this OK:
-white cap-sleeved shirt
-under turquoise polo (unbuttoned all the way and rolled at the bottom to make it shorter)
-with a black miniskirt.

For shoes,
-turquoise high heels or
-black flip-flops.

Any advice? Tips on the makeup and accessories, too?

go with the flip flops for the first day of school...you don't wanna go way over the top.

The other clothes sound great!!!

I also wouldn't over-do the turquoise. Maybe a pair of turquoise earrings and a cute black bag would be all the accessories you need!

No on the mini skirt.
1. It looks like you are trying too hard.
2. You'll probably give the impression that you are advertising yourself.
3. A draft, someone behind you on the stairs, or even a misplaced backpack that pulls it up, and you'll be flashing the world.

No to both the heels and flip flops. Either can be uncomfortable for all the walking. Flip flops don't have much padding on the insole, and they come off your feet too easy. Heels are just a killer, period.

Rolling a shirt to make it shorter, do you want to spend your first day of school messing with your clothes to keep them in place?

Be comfortable for school. It's not a runway for fashion models. Shorts or capri's would be more practical than a skirt.

Your hair should be an easy style that you won't have to re-do several times during the day. Your makeup should be natural and light. Accessories should be minimal jewelry, a belt. I'd stay away from scarves and other non-essentials. They give you the look of someone that's not comfortable with herself.

Ask your parents about dress code while you're at it. Breaking school dress codes is a sure way to get yourself noticed, you'll be in gym wear for the rest of the day.

For 7th grade you don't need to wear high heels ever! There is plenty of time to wear them when you're older. The flip flops would look cute though. You also don't need makeup! Maybe a little lip gloss, but don't over do it!

What ever happened to T-shirts and BlueJeans??

No wonder so many 9th graders are starting their first day in MaryKay Maternity wear.

PS loose the high heels they ruin your ankles.
