This really depend on where do you live, I would recommend you submitting application to local hospitals, and you can also try to voluteer in those hospitals, so you can have network with the staff and supervisor there. If you have no formal experience in the medical field, I would highly recommend you to start voluteering.

Hi,
I am wondering if you already have experience in the medical office, or perhaps are a graduate from a formal training program. In that case, you might have been sent to an externship site by your school. That's often a great place to begin submitting your application and resume because they already know you.

If you have not been working in the field for a while and need a refresher, I highly recommend visiting the Advanced Medical Assisistant of America at http://www.certmedassistant.com... or Medical Assistant Net at http://www.medicalassistant.net... where you will find MANY free career and self-study resources to get you back in touch with the fundamentals. Also, both these websites have a GREAT and very active medical assistant forum (look for the medical assistant message board link in the left hand navigation panel--kind of near the bottom of the links list).

There also are job links!!!! and sample medical assistant resumes and a resume writer's work sheet. But as mentioned, the best part are the free self-study resources and the medical assistant message boards.
