My family (my husband, 8 month old daughter and I) are going on a week long vacation in October, but we don't know where yet. It needs to be in the US because we don't have passports, and has to be family/kid friendly. Please help us!!!

I think you should rent a motor home and go on a road trip.. you can carry everything you need for the baby with you and stretch out if baby is asleep then it isn't a big deal.. no cramming scenic tours in and you can bring all your food with you... maybe go and watch the leaves change and just sit and relax.. now adays everyone is running around even on vacation.. and when you get home you need a vacation from your vacation. Take your camera and take a ton of picture while you camp out in the great outdoors.. but you still will have everything baby needs.. let baby explore and have a great time with your husband.

have fun

I would go to Western Washington...
(Seattle or anywhere up and down Interstate 5)

You would have the city, quaint small towns to explore, deep woods, the ocean, rivers, waterfalls, ride the passenger/car ferries, desert an hour or so away, volcanos, shopping, theatres, concerts, fairs, amusements, ride a dinner train, casinos, outlet malls, a huge aquarium, soaring skyscrapers, cobblesone streets from the 1800s and soooooo much more..
If you got bored you would be 2 hours to Vancouver Canada or Portland Oregon.

Moderate temp, never too hot or cold. Fresh FRESH mountain/woods/ocean air.

There is NO place like it.

And it doesn't rain ALL the time but don't tell anyone, thats our secret.

Its hard to make a suggestion since I dont know what your budget is, and where you are and how you'd like to travel (plane, car, etc)

Check out deals at travelzoo.com, they usually have all kinds of deals and that should give you some ideas.

If it were me I know I'd want to go somewhere warm. Last October my daughter and I were in Florida, the weather was still warm enough to swim (but we narrowly missed a hurricane)

Depending on your budget and how far you are willing to go...Yosemite is always beautiful..hiking, camping, fishing, etc.
Arizona is great too, Grand Canyon, Sedona..warm weather.
I guess it also depends on how active you want to be with an 8 month old...they are still pretty 'pack and go' capable. Good Luck!
