I am totally uncomfortable around it. I realize that many people smoke pot, but I prefer not to be around it or be friends with people who do it. I've been dating someone for five years, and recently the topic came up, and we visited some friends of hers who pulled out the bong. I wanted to leave immediately, but she had a hard time leaving because it was "no big deal" to her. I could not understand her open mind to drugs and how society views pot smokers. I never really expected to marry someone who would be open to it, and would it be fair of me to ask that she doesn't hang around with them if they are smoking pot? It's not the harm of the drug that bothers me as much as the stigma behind inviting drugs into my family. I wouldn't stay anywhere near someone smoking pot, and I could understand being an acquaintance, but never hanging out while they did it. That would be support of it, in my opinion. Is there anyone who agrees with me?

Society's view on pot smokers is changing dramaticaly. In a nation wide poll done by the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), DRC.Net, and Stopthedrugwar.com revealed that over 65% of the people in our nation believe that reform is needed in the way that marijuana is handeled. While being interviewed by the MPP, the drug Czar appologized for all the propaganda used to make Marijuana seem worse then it really is. He also agrees that reform is needed in the marijuana policy.

As proof of this, both Mexico, and Denver Colorado have legalized marijuana for personal use. It's simply something some people choose to do with their free time, and there is nothing wrong with it.

In recorded all recorded history, not one person has ever died from smoking marijuana. That's 12,000 years history! Archaelogists agree that marijuana is one of the first plants ever purposely cultivated by man, and may even be THE first.

"yes, i totally agree with you. i hate the thought of drugs being accepted into my family life. i would tell your girlfriend how uncomfortable i was with it and tell her all your thoughts on it. pot is just the begining of becoming more comfortable with other types of drugs. "

Firstly, Marijuana IS NOT a drug!! by definition, in the websters dictionary a drug must be sythesized, man made. In that right, Marijuana is an herb. A completely natural plant bi-product. Next thing you know, people will be bashing others for using thyme, dill, and rosemarry in their recipies. Secondly, that entire "gateway drug theory" that your brought up needs to be tossed out. It's totaly garbage! Marijuana DOES NOT cause people to want to do harder substances. Yes, some people do other things but that's about personal choice, not about Marijuana. Yeah, the propaganists tell you that "100% of all Heroine users once smoked pot" but, you know what they don't tell you? That only 5% of marijuana smokers move onto Heroine! Place the blame where it belongs- which is in the hands of the people who choose to do these things - not on the herb!

It doesn't hurt you, or anybody around you. It simply is a wonderful, natural thing for a human being to do. So, in short. No, I would not be bothered if my significant other smoked pot, if anything I'd be happy to share a bowl with her.

Both me and my fiance have friends who smoke pot though neither of us do anymore. I politely turn it down when offered and if they are smoking outside, I step out of smell range and tell them that the smell bothers me. If they are smoking pot in the house, I excuse myself politely and go home.

But it isn't my place to tell someone who they shouldn't hang out with. Just because someone is a pot smoker does not make them a bad person, so I wouldn't judge her friends on what they do with their own bodies in their own houses on their recreation time.
