My husband complains because he says he feels like the maid. I told him now that we have a baby I don't have as much time to clean up. When I offer to clean as long as he watches the baby he refuses. He only likes to hold her when she is quiet as soon as she starts to cry he hands her to me. What should I do?

He'll be fine!!! If he is not willing to take care of the baby while you do the housework, then what are you supposed to do? I am sure the baby is not requiring a 24 hour watch, therefore, there should be time for both of you to do the cleaning. The two of you hitting the house at the same time will make it a lot faster. Babies tend to sleep alot.

A lot depends on the situation. Are you a stay at home mother? The single biggest thing a stay at home mom can do is make sure the house is not in disarray when your husband comes home from work. That means NOT coming home to a house full of screaming kids, toys all over the place, dishes piled high, meals not prepared, etc.... For others to just say your husband is a jerk without knowing the situation isn't fair.

Tell him to grow up and join the real world. Some men think that because they do one thing that they shouldn't have to do anything else. He lives there too doesn't he. He should have to clean and help out. As for the baby if he doesn't start helping now it will get worse. My son is 6 now and he doesn't want his daddy to even be with him because his daddy didn't do anything for him and now he doesn't want him to. Children know who takes the time with them and who doesn't. When they are older they will not want the people around who didn't take the time for them.

Get him a maid's outfit and tell him to get busy! If he doesn't want to watch the baby while you clean, then he needs to do it himself.

Your husband sounds like a complete jerk.

Tell him to either get used to living in a messy house, get used to cleaning or watch his freaking kid while you clean.

Let him keep feeling like the maid. It won't hurt him.

As long as he is not willing to deal with his child, he will remain a child. Let him complain!
