I'm confused here about the whole "corrective lenses" restriction and how the police enforce such a thing.

How would the police even know if you're lying about wearing contact lenses just to get out of getting a ticket for NOT wearing eyeglasses?

I mean, let's assume someone IS wearing contact lenses instead of eyeglasses. Would the police look at the license, notice the corrective lenses restriction, and ask the driver why he or she isn't wearing eyeglasses? Could the driver just say he or she is wearing contact lenses and the cop just take the driver's word for it and leave it at that without issuing a ticket?

Any of you with personal experience ever been given a citation for not wearing corrective lenses (either eyeglasses or contact lenses) while driving? What's been your experience with the corrective lenses restriction on your driver's license and/or how did the police react or how did they NOT react when looking at your license and/or corrective lenses restriction?

If a police officer questions you about the corrective lens issue because you are wearing contacts, just show the officer the contacts. Contacts are visible on the eye if someone looks closely, or you could pop one out to show. However, I haven't ever had a problem with this issue and I have those restrictions on my license and wear contacts. I haven't ever even been questioned.

I was just pulled over today (not for breaking any laws - I was trying to limp home with a snapped throttle cable and couldn't go very fast) and had a cop check my license. I've got a corrective lens restriction and was wearing contacts. The cop didn't even ask about that even though she did check to make sure my license was valid.

I have a corrective lenses restriction, and the last time I was pulled over the officer asked me about it. I told him I was wearing my contact lenses. He asked me to pull one out so he could see it. Since I didn't have anything to hide, I showed him. One thing you need to know: When you get a drivers license, you sign away a whole slew of your civil liberties. By law, the police can search your car without a warrant (still need probable cause, but that's very subjective), they can actually force you to take an alcohol test, and yes, they can ask you to take out your contact lenses if your license specifies "corrective lenses."

You can wear contacts - they are corrective lenses. Police are trained to look at the wearers eye to see the contact. In North Carolina, failure to wear a corrective lense when the restriction code is on your licence is the same as driving WITHOUT a licence.

I don't know of anyone ever being ticketed for that. In terms of "corrective lenses" contacts are the same as glasses.

I am legally blind without my contacts and I have been pulled over MANY times. I have never had a cop ask about it once.

I've never thought of that, but no, I don't think they can ticket you. I think its more of an ID thing. "5'11" 190 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes, glasses."
