In trying to understand biological systems, molecular biologists often need to “reverse engineer” them. Is this evidence that the systems were engineered to begin with?

In essence, depending on what you believe, the genes were either "engineered" (created) by God; or they were engineered (evolved) by nature. Reverse engineering is an attempt to follow the same "path" backwards that created those genes to deconstruct them to better understand them and recreate it again in a different way once it is fully understood.
