If you're just looking for points, it doesn't matter does it. You could care less. . . . 2pts. and you're gone.
But there are some of us who enjoy posting a good question, and sometimes we have something we would really like to know, especially if there is someone who might give us an Excellent answer.
But for the really tough questions, it is as much a challenge to someone who might give it a shot, if they are up to it. But otherwise, not everyone can take on a tough question. And have the appearance of knowing what you're talking about, because it does count. It wouldn't be an important question anyway.
It just kinda sucks, that it sits there and nobody note worthy will take a jab at it. It isn't there to scare peeps, but its there coz we do want to know if there is an answer.
Isn't that what a question is for? To provoke those gears in your head to function to some extent?

Serious forums aside, some are harder to get to. And a good answer is at times hard to come by. But here it also depends on the time of the day that it is posted. Like right now is the best because - Some of you are supposed to be working ( lol ), but obviously you got a little time to kill, and it is fun to see how others are faring. But also, there are some of you who may actually have the answer which we seek. Because You would might know it, because you do have a little time to kill and you are a grown-up who just might know better.
Its in good fun, which is appreciated - Thank You

Agreed. But one does have to take into account the wide spectrum of people on Y/A and how they are weighted. Do not despair. Sometimes those 2 or 3 answers are worth it.

I read your question and totally agreed with it. Then i scrolled down to the answers and saw the first two. And of course, your question brought on the answers that you hate. I wish that some people would just try for once to look deeper than dry humor and the fact that you get two points, because this particular category: philosophy, is where people come to look for great questions and great answers that will actually provoke thought and bring you deeper into your soul and closer to the tiny hair of a fraction of contentment and meaning. We need to know things. it is why we ask questions. but if none of us take these things seriously (i know, some will be rolling their eyes cuz i sound like a freak know-it-all but i mean this) then those who ask will not only be VERY annoyed, but will be left knowing or leave the site completely when - would they know it- if they had stayed for thirty seconds more, they would have been blown away by an astounding answer.

I agree, but not everyone thinks the same way. I have had my fair share of questions that got like one or two responses.... but others that got like 6 - 12 responses. I think it has more to do with who is visiting the questions for wether the answers or how many answers your going to get. Its like scratch offs........ you buy 10 and they are all losers..... maybe a ticket. The next day you buy 10 and you win 100 bucks......... its all in the group that is here at the time of your question and lets not forget, there are alot of 13 yr olds and younger or a little older that visit here, and they couldn't answer a serious question if they tried and really wanted to.

Yep, i have been there. yet as an answerer, I continuously attempt to positioned into my answer a minimum of as a lot attempt because the question merits. the problem is, this website fairly begins discouraging you from expending the flexibility necessary to suited answer the question. If I spend twenty minutes studying, explaining, and justifying an staggering answer in 4 unique paragraphs, I nevertheless have a 70-80% probability that the asker will basically p.c.. the longest get admission to (perpetually reduce-and-pasted from Wikipedia), the most exciting smartass non-answer, or, in terms of opinion, the reply they were fishing for in the first position regardless of high quality. I nevertheless put in the attempt, yet provided that i think like a persons' going to actual study and evaluate my answer.

It really depends on the question. If the question is worth of my time typing and thinking, then, I have no problem answering it. If it's like a stupid question and have no point, then, my answer is usually short....it's a easy 2 pts anyway. I don't understand why would anyone want to post a stupid question, what a waste of 5 points.

I partially agree.
From the questions I've asked that have been serious I've had a mixture of trash responses and real responses.
Perhaps if we reported people for failing to even read the question. Its usually apparent from the title of a question if that question is worth looking at. So when people look at a philosophical question and answer single word answers or with no criteria, or dumb answers yes that makes me hit thumbs down or report for really idiotic answers.

I agree. I ask serious questions and you get answers from bone heads or for really serious questions with 1 or 2 responses. It gets annoying.

i think you asked a very valid question, but aren't you just asking for hoax answers by asking it in the first place?! so what exactly was the question that nobody bothered to reply to?!
