How many credits of Social Studies will I need to get in order to get into a good University in Florida? I know many people say only three years (credits), but I have oftentimes heard four. Does anyone know from experience, or know where I can find out?

What I hate is, all through high school, you take math, science, social studies and other crap. Then when you graduate and go register for college, you find out that you have to take all that crap again. I don't understand why we have to take it four years in high school, then another four years in college.

Ask your counselor, most school make sure you stay on the right path of credits that most colleges take.

I don't think social studies is as important as Math and Foreign Language for Florida colleges. They might not even have a problem with less if you are transferring from somewhere else like a community college.

No you don't need four years, probably two. Go to any college's website and you can find email contacts in each dept. Send your Q: to them and I'm sure you'll get an answer. They usually list the requirements in the admissions for new students link too. Have fun in college. :)

Speaking to an adviser at the school would be your best bet, they can tell you what steps need to be taken in your particular situation. Schools' requirements and prerequisites for admission vary, so I would not rely on outside information as the basis for your decision.

Good Luck!

Ask your guidance office. In my state (NY) it is 3 classes, but it depends on what school you are looking at, and what major you're looking at. A music major might not need so much social studies, but an anthropology major certainly would.

Ask your high school guidance counselor or call the admissions office to any of the FL colleges you are interested in and ask.

i would recommend going to www.collegeboard.com and searching for the college you want and under admissions it tells you what they usually look for. Either do that or talk to an admissions officer or your guidance councelor and see what they have found through experience. Good luck and hope that helped
