can i buy my books for college on ebay half.com using a debit card or does it have to be a credit card?

Different sellers on e-bay accept different methods of payment, but I would be careful about any method that can't be traced.

Generally you can't use a debit card on e-bay. You need a PayPal account to complete transactions easily and safely. PayPal can be linked to either a credit card or a bank account. As others have said, if your card is just a debit card and not a credit card, it won't work.

United States and maybe Australia Visa debit cards should work.
The US cards need to have either a Visa or MasterCard symbol on the card. Australia uses only the Visa Symbol. You need to check with your bank to make sure your card is activated for Internet purchases and you need to use the same address that you have on the debit card. Ebay uses Address verification.

Depending on the seller you might be able to do a direct bank transfer or pay by cheque or even postal orders.
Remember you aren't buying from eBay but from people who use ebay as a venue. Ebay are only auctioneers. just make sure you read the payment options on the auction pages or even mail the seller directly. This is a good practice as if you get no reply there's a chance they are sleeping.

as long as your debit card has a Visa or Mastercard logo, then your debit and credit cards are processed the same. If your debit card does not have the Visa or Mastercard logo, it may only be a check card or atm card, which would not be accepted.
