olive oil. Unlike store brand lotions made with mineral oil, vegie oils actually penetrate the skin layers. Mayonaise works also.

Best advice I ever got:

Buy a pair of white cotton gloves. You can get them anywhere in most bath/beauty sections. I've seen them in WalMart, CVS, etc. Before bed, slather on INSANE amounts of your preferred moisturizer. The Norwegian hand cream from neotrogena works well for me. Other people swear by Bag Balm and still others simply by Vaseline.

Anyhow, slather it on in a thick thick coat, put your gloves on, and go to bed!

It will work wonders!

No need to do it every night, either, work with your skin and see what happens. You can do this for your feet, too. Just put on some clean socks and a lot of lotion or potion or whatever you like!

Use a salt or sugar scrub on your hands. You can buy the expensive kind or you can just get some sea salt and mineral oil. (add some fragrance drops if you want). Rinse them and when they are still slightly damp put a lotion or oil on them. To really really make them soft lather them real well with the lotion and then put socks over them and sleep with them in the socks!
Oh if you use that scrub in the shower watch out it makes the bottom slick!

Get any kind of lotion or cream with paraffin in it, or if you have a little extra money, go to a salon and get a Paraffin Wax Treatment on your hands...it is amazing!!!

Also, after you find a good heavy cream, put a lot of it on your hands and then a pair of socks on over them and wear overnite. You will wake up to super smooth hands!

try putting on the lotion/cream/balm at night and then wearing gloves to sleep. It really helps. White cotton gloves are the least warm, but I can't find those and I use the 99¢ knit ones you can buy anywhere (maybe not in the summer) or someone else I suggested this too said she used clean socks and it worked.
