I don't think all those who "seem" straight are trying to act it; it's just how they are. I personally apparently seem more or less queer at different times, even in similar situations and with the same people. I also know a guy who's got pride emblems everywhere, rainbow bumber stickers on his cars, who is out to everyone he knows, but if I'm out with him, his partner, and their daughter, people tell me how beautiful 'our' (his and my) daughter is. A lot of it is just how people choose to perceive you.

I don't think there is such a thing as acting gay or acting straight. You shouldn't let stereotypes let you be who you are. I mean I'm pretty nerdy but I don't act flamboyant at all! I mean I can't stand shopping, but I don't really like watching sports either!!
Since society is based on stereotypes all the time, it can be pretty hard to deal with.

Are you for real? Gay people do not "act" in everyday living...they only "act" if they are in a play or movie.
I may as well ask why str8s "act" str8?
I get tired of people putting gay men and women in a box...as if we can be defined by a single characteristic. Gay men and lesbians are the very same as everyone else.

I am just myself. I do have my moments where I "queen" out, however for the most part, no one in the general public would know i am gay. I have girls hit on me all the time, and even when they find out they repeatedly tell me that they wish i wasn't gay. So I wouldnt say I try to act straight, I just don't think everyone needs to know, so therefore feminine is not my natural personna.

LOL, i've got observed those I come for the time of on my college campus try this to. I cant say i comprehend why they do although. It would not make you a black female. while you're gay, advantageous yet please act like a guy.

I have friends who are screaming bitchy queens (think Carson) and friends who are reserved....who said that there had to be typical gay men?
It's good that you are yourself and you know what you are! I have been told I act like a gay man - when I am female!

I hate stereotypes/labels and "boxes." I don't think I am stereotypical at all. some people figure out I'm lesbian, others don't. we don't all act/look/sound alike. we are all different just like straight people are.

I act like myself.
I deplore labels and detest boxes more.
Sometimes it's obvious that I'm gay, sometimes it's no so obvious.
I don't wear it on my sleeve like a badge, I simply go about my daily life.

I am who I am - it is not an 'act'. For what it is worth, I am more masculine in my actions than not. If that makes me striaght acting - so be it.
