I am 25.5 years old. I have been with my wife (dating and marriage) for 5 years.

We planned to wait another year before trying to conceive, but I want to start sooner.

I see babies everywhere and I get happy at thinking of becoming a dad one day.

My friends have children and I spend time with playing with them and I go home thinking about how lucky and happy they are to have children.

If I see babies I get this feeling in my stomach like I need to be a dad soon.

Hopefully my first child will be born before I turn 27.

Is this normal for a man?

Good question, I'd like to know the answer too... My husband and I just got married in June and we decided to wait a year or two to start trying to have kids... but now he seems really excited by the idea. More so than he was before, I think it's great that he's excited (as I'm sure your wife is) but it's a little unnerving since I want to enjoy our time alone for awhile first.

I don't think there is anything wrong with you having baby fever at all. I think that is cool. I bet you will be on heck of a dad, too!

The only thing I caution is if you all agreed on a time frame and now you want to change it is to discuss it with your wife. If she is not willing to have a child before another year then just wait it out. It will be here before you know it.

Good luck!

Yes it's normal and very adorable! You should share this feeling with her and show her how excited you are. She should be all smiles and agree with you since you were planning on having children soon anyways. There is nothing wrong with starting a year early! It's like Christmas, you just don't want to wait! hehe =)

You should make her baby peas, baby carrots, baby back ribs, etc and tell her how intensely you want a baby. =D

I would say that is normal but what you have to keep in mind is that the mother is the one that spends most of her time nurturing the child so if she wants to wait, that's the best thing for everyone. You want to hold the miracle you've created and waiting a little longer will make it that much better.

Yea, I think its perfectly normal. I got it before my husband did one day. All of a sudden I wanted to have a baby. He was not ready and that was 6 months ago. After he got use to the idea of it now he is worse than me! Every little kid we see he has to point them out! Its sort of fun and weird at the same time. Its such a huge step to be taking and it feels like nothing I have ever felt like.

I am a woman so I don't know if it is normal for a man but I have seen a lot of guys act that way. They usually turn out to be great fathers. Your wife is a very lucky woman.

Yeah, it's normal for men as well as women to have baby fever. For some reasons it usually happens in your mid-20s. I guess your body and mind is ready to start a family. Talk to your wife and see if she is having baby fever as well. If so, well that's your clue to go ahead and get started. Good luck.

While I can appreciate your desire to have a family, this is something that you have to discuss with your wife, especially since she's the one who will be pregnant, and probably the primary caretaker of the baby. Discuss it with her, but listen to her reasoning, and respect her wishes, since it will be happening to her body. Having a baby is permanent, you can't return them to the hospital when you're tired...I know, I tried! LOL
