just one question,are you a pedophile if you have downloaded child porngography and it arouses you?for some strainge reason, i cannot lie i have downloaded it in the past,i have never harmed a girl/boy in anyway! that is so sick,but i hate what i have done (downloaded) and i just wondering am i a pedophile? please dont be harsh on me, i dont expect you to feel sympathetic for me,i have ADHD and i was wondering if that has anything to do with it,as i have read in the past about my disorder (ADHD) it makes the brain think that you are younger than you actually are,thats why you are so imature? i was wondering if that made me fell like i do? i am trying REally hard to control my urges,i would never want to hamr any child ever,it is sick to think of it.

As a child protection officer i should tell you that what you have done is wrong. Do not blame ADHD! You can still make choices?!
It is against the law to download so you have broken the law! The reason it is against the law is because children 0 -16 years of age, are seen in the eyes of the law not to be able to make descions about their sexuality and be able to consent to sexual acts.
Many children that you see on the websites are being abused, physically, sexually and emotionally and when idiots like you download it you are feeding fuel to the fire so people will continue this abuse just to entertain you! It is WRONG! In the UK they are able to trace people who have downloaded child porn and charge them with sex offences. It does not make you a pedo. but you would be a sex offender and would never be able to have contact with any children and be placed on a sex offenders register, this would mean if you ever wanted a family it would never be allowed and the child would be removed.
Basically it is as bad as touching and harming a child yourself!

Also working with sex offenders i truley can evidence that there is no cure, for anyone suggesting help - you say you are trying REALLY HARD to stop urges, you are a danger to your community.
I have picked up children affected by this for years and the damage is terrible, which is why my answer is so harsh! I see the damage every single day! Could you do my job? It is tough!

Good id for a question like this. You are going to anger a lot of people who won't be nice in their opinions.
If the attraction is for girls/boys that are not yet developed, you may need help. If the attrition is for teens that have developed, then join the many who feel younger is more attractive.
The definition of a pedophile is one who is aroused by children. Period.
Since you know that they are not natural, healthy urges, there is hope for you. Talk to a counselor about how you feel. If you are ADHD (yes this makes you more immature) you may be able to get some help from prescriptions. Make sure you are honest about your attractions and the way you act on them. If you are sickened by the thought, then you know it's wrong. There are ways to help you. It won't be easy, and it will take time. Don't expect miracles overnight. Self control is difficult when you have a disorder like that. Your mind isn't capable of the thought process, you may find that you act before you think things through. As long as you know where the line is, and get some help, you shouldn't be in danger of hurting a child.

First of all, unless you want to end up on an internet sex offender registry, do not download illegal pornography again. In some states possessing CP is an automatic felony. Many activist groups are pushing possession to become a Federal felony.
Second, get over the self-judgement. You did it, it's done. What will determine whether your are "sick" or not is your NEXT decision. If you can put it out of your mind and not act on it, you should be fine. People get "aroused" by all sorts of illicit things...slowing down at an accident sight is a classic example...but there is a distinct line between "grim curiosity" and "obsession."
Most honest people have thoughts about deviant behavior at one time or another. This does not make them a deviant.
Third, find a licensed therapist with experience in sexual issues and get a consultation.
Finally, if this is a recurring issue for you DO NOT let the shame of it force you to deal with it alone. Isolation and hopelessness are two factors most likely to lead you to act out your worst thoughts.

seriously get help.............and as for the site you downloaded from turn them in .. go to the police tell them where and when you got that download so that they can close another one of those sick places down.. and maybe nail alot of others at the same time.. once a child goes threw these horrible thing it does not go away over time.. it lives with them for the rest of there life and its not an easy life to live .. you would have to walk in one of our shoes to understand what im trying to say.. and though you say you would never hurt a child well you already have by downloading it watching it and getting aroused by it.. now just stop and think for one minute. if that was your child would you want sick people looking at your kid in disgusting ways ... would you stand by and let someone look at your child and think about things like that with your child?? you need to get help in a serious way and that is the truth.. and as far as adhd.. it is not an excuse .. if you know u have it you should be getting treatment for it...and trying to blame this on that is just plain crazy as well.. .stop reading all of this and get up off your ass and do the right thing..go to the police turn that site in and tell them you need a professionals help .. If child porn arouses you then yes I would say you are a pedophile, even if you know its wrong and have never harmed a child it still makes you a pedophile, and by the way if you have downloaded child porn you have harmed a child, maybe not directly, but you cant tell me that those kids want you to watch them being molested and violated in the most horrifying of ways, not only that you are contributing to a disgusting and illegal industry. Seek mental help for this issue before it goes too far.

well i think child pornography is illegal so u might wanna stop doing it but as for being a pedophile I'm not sure i don't think so as long as you've never actually made a child undress or anything like that. And maybe the ADHD has something to do with it do you wanna ask your doctor or something? No, having ADHD has nothing to do with it. You have some social adjustment issues which *must* be kept in check if you want to fit into polite society. Even in our 'everything is good' society, pedophilia is wrong. We all know it and it's a good start that you know it. It hurts kids, it hurts families and it hurts you (not to mention that it gets you thrown in jail).
You say that your urges are under control now, but you might want some professional help in understanding why you feel this way.
