You are a VERY smart lady!!
I got married at 21 and had my daughter at 26.
I always tell my friends to not have children for at least 5 years after getting married. I say this for 2 reasons, you as a couple need time for yourselves.. to come and go and do as you please. And to make sure your marriage is solid. I think it is very good advice for everyone as there are too many divorces, and way too many kids with only one parent. They deserve the best and so do you!!

I was 26. I still was not ready. You will probably may never be ready. ***smiling***

However, no one can pressure you into this. It is a personal decision between you and your partner.

Enjoy your marriage (each other) for a couple of years. Everything gets a more complicated with kids. It gets better, but more complicated.

That is great to hear, I'm glad you're not rushing into it like so many people do, which they might later regret.

I'm 26 as well, and am in no rush to get married, let alone have a kid, I'm still young and want to do more travelling, and grow my business and not be tied down to anyone or anything (except my puppy!). Take care.

Yes, I was 18. But that is not what I would recommend! We had unprotected sex because I went on the pill and I thought they said I only had to wait 3 days. Come to find out, we were supposed to wait 3 weeks! Anyway, for us it turned out OK, we got married and now have another. But going through nursing school pregnant and then with a kid, made it much more difficult! I say, wait if you can. I intended to, but (I guess I need to start listening better?)

My daughter is three, I'm 26. I was married for almost four years before she was born though. That was something my husband and I really wanted, was a few years all to ourselves. Don't let anyone pressure you into having kids before you're really ready. When you are, you'll know :)

I was young like 20 when I had my first one and my youngest just turned 1 last mo. But I knew when I was in high school all I ever wanted to be was a mother because I didnt have much of a family so that is what I wanted. You shouldnt feel pressured at all just enjoy your husband. When you are ready you'll know!

I was pregnant with my son when I was 40. I did not want children until I was in my 30's. I didn't realize that it would take so long to get pregnant but it did. Mine was a healthy pregnancy and he is a healthy 9 year old boy today. I did not have any special medical procedures done to get pregnant nor did I take fertility drugs. My son seems to think it's neat that we are the oldest parents among his peers.
