Nothing to be ashamed of but its part of their culture. Its not a GOOD part of the culture today, but from all the time i have heard it, it was being emphasized with the letter A at the end, in sort of like a term of friendship... when it was originally started by Caucasians the emphases was on the "ER" in a hateful slanderous way. I highly doubt you will ever catch African Americans emphasizing the "ER" because it is just as disrespectful as if someone else were to call them that.

I just say that it would be best if no one called anyone outside of their given birth name- it would make things MUCH easier in the world...

The white person used the word to label a black person as this no good, no use black person without a cause, black people use the word as like a friend, one of there people. and if you are white dont EVER say the word in front of a black person that is very disrespectful and even though Im black and I dont like the fact that black people are calling each other the word but yea im done.

If you have to ask this question you just need a really good history lesson.

Blacks don't like it when whites say it to them because it is reminiscent of the days of slavery when the white man spoke down to the black man.

Are you smart enough to know bad words when you hear them? Are you smart enough to know that if a rapper uses the terms "bitches", "hoes", and "******" in his music it doesn't mean that it is acceptable for common everyday use? Are you aware that there are negative and not so bright people in the world? Are you aware that you should not desire to follow the behavior of people acting like buffoons?

If a white person feels they must us that word, fine, it is a free country. They should just be ready to deal with the consequences. Every action has consequences.

The term ****** and ***** are two different words with two different meanings and that's why. And why are white people always asking that. Does it bother them that much that the term is used amongst blacks.

Well that word is not just used by blacks it's used by Asian , Hispanic and other nationalities and it just pisses me off when people use that word but any one that uses that word is ignorant !!!!! and you should not just put the focus on black people because white people created that word so I don't think you should just think of blacks saying that word when it was the white man that started it!!!!! put the focus on your people an there ignorance!!!!

I'm black, and I don't think its okay for anyone to say.
But, to answer your question, the black community seems to have adopted that term and use it like its something "positive". I don't really agree with that. The definitition is ignorant. So, we should not be referring to ourselves as that.
As far as white people using it, well, for the obvious reasons... thats what the white slave masters used to call us. Just don't use it. I won't.

because white people are not part of that culture and are excluded from the group as a whole. ****** means to them as brother but, if a white said it... the $%&^ hits the fan!

If I were to say that, I'd be racist. But when a black guy calls me a "cracker", it's not racist. Go figure.
