If you're talking about when you're using the search bar on the site itself, disable auto complete on IE. Tool->Internet Options->click the Advanced tab, then scroll down to the box labeled inline Auto Complete and uncheck the box.

If you're talking about the Y! toolbar, there is an option to clear search results. I believe it's in the menu where you see the Y! logo.

Go to your tool bar at the top of the browser window. Click on TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS. You should find an option to delete browser history.

If you have Norton System Works, you should also have the ability to run a 'clean up' which deletes browser history as well. I have mine scheduled to run every night in order to keep file space cleared up.
