in terms of money, or also to be listened by the people. In italy someone says that in USA philosophy is more important than there. An example: me, a philosopher, i go to USA. I could find job? i could pay a life and a family doing the "philosopher"? :)

Philosophy comes from the Latin Phila and Sophia. It means "to like" and "knowledge". So Philosophers interpret facts, illusions, experiences, from the quotidian life and make it worthwhile.
A philosopher can develop theories that help a particular society understand a certain behaviour. Yes i think they're successful because philosophy can't die as long as people behave, and behaviour can't die as long as people breath. So depending on what you mean by successful (financially or socially) a philosopher can be very successful in the US.
Ciao amici :)

Stay in your neighbourhood, within your family, live an inspired, an enlightening life and let you life and light inspire others, that is the task of every enlightened person.

As for being successful, you can stay where you are and allow success to come to you.

In fact you don’t need to even step out of your home to become successful, your ideas will travel and do all the work for you, just make sure that they are powerful enough to attract all the power and fame you wish to attract through them, very much possible.

Location is never a limitation for success or enlightenment, it can happen anywhere, anytime.

A philosopher is like an artist. His/Her thoughts are meaningful only to themselves unless they can take hold of the public mind. I would say that most philosophers are only important in their own mind.

depends on what you define "success" as...if you want to make $$ then you need to publish your thoughts in a format people can use for their OWN life...
