Hoo boy! Did they ever!!! Back in the 1700s, in the French court, men wore face powder, rouge, lipstick, and beauty patches. From France it spread to England and to other royal courts, where it was aped by the gentry. At one point, men wore more makeup than women!
It wasn't all that healthy, as the face powder contained powdered zinc, which turned out to be deadly after a few years of use. Some of the other products they used weren't very safe either. Today, people show much more restraint, have safer cosmetics, and prefer a more natural look. And thank goodness for that!

Actually throughout history men especaily from royal families or the wealthy used cosmetics to enhance there looks , features much like present day women do. As far as current products that men can use that are made for a woman its typically skin and or lip balm items.

yes, in fact cosmetics were originally created for men. In the greek era, only men were allowed to perform in the theatre, playing both the male and female roles. These men wore heavy make up, wigs and everything else a modern female might use today. It wasnt until the dawn of moving film that make up began be soley for women, who needs to add different tones to the black and white faces on old film. Now men use make up only in hollywood or in the film or entertainment industry, kind of like the old days of greece. funny how history repeats itself.

Yes they did. Not only in plays, and on TV, but the ones that signed our constitution wore wigs and make up. During this era it was popular for men to wear powder make up. Look closely at those paintings of the men in the 1700s.
