A man beats another man to death in Oregon with a baseball bat. Police had plenty of information to arrest him but not enough to convict and sentence him hands down. While imprisoned the murder confesses the murder to Catholic priest, police record the conversation. Who was the murder, was the info used in court, was the murder convicted and sentenced? This is an EC question for political science and the info above is all that I have! PLEASE HELP!!!!

AHA!! Think I've got it!

"Damages Paid To Oregon Priest
The state of Oregon and Lane County Commissioners agreed in mid-November to settle a civil suit for $45,000 with a Eugene priest who claims his civil rights were violated last year by law enforcement officials who taped a confidential jailhouse conversation.
Rev. Timothy Mockaitis, pastor at St. Paul's Catholic Church, filed the suit in September 1996 upon discovering that Lane County District Attorney Doug Harcleroad authorized investigators to tape a conversation between the priest and accused triple-murderer Conan Wayne Hale.
Hale is scheduled to stand trial early next year on 22 counts of aggravated murder and other charges stemming from the December 1995 deaths of three Springfield teenagers.
Harcleroad later apologized for the taping but insisted it was legal under Oregon law at the time.
Lane County Commissioners will pay $25,000 and the state Attorney General's office will pay $20,000."

Check any of these names for details and you should get the rest of the information that you need. Hope this helps!!

P.S. Conan Wayne Hale / Lane County / Born: 12/28/75
Sentenced to death: 5/29/1998 (believe this is the same case)
Hale and Jonathan Wayne Susbauer were convicted of murdering Hale's ex-girlfriend, Kristal Bendele, 15; her boyfriend, Brandon Williams, 15; and a friend, Patrick Finley, 13, in 1995. Bendele and Williams were naked, their bodies piled beside a gravel road. Nearby, the body of Finley was dressed in his shorts and T-shirt, Bendele's pants and a rabbit fur coat. Hale and Susbauer blamed each other. Susbauer was sentenced to life in prison.
Interesting fact: Hale gained international attention when jail officials taped a conversation he had with a Roman Catholic priest. Catholic officials sued, and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Lane County officials had violated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the Civil Rights Act.

I'm not sure what you mean. There seems to be some information missing from your question. Possibly if you clarify you may get some good answers. Best of luck with it.
