A point guard is more important than a shooting guard. A point guard is an extension of your coach on the floor. He manages the offense and makes everything happen.

What RIcardo said. There are more great shooting guards than there are point guards. Of course, the point guard is the most important because there were no teams in the playoffs this yr that did not have good point guards. Shooting guards are more for people like T-mac & Kobe (of which T-mac is better)

Having a good point guard who can distribute the ball and set up the offense is more important to a team's success, so the point guard is the better position.

PG.
The floor leader does a lot more work than score points. He controls the rhythmn and changes the flow of the game. Just see Jason Kidd, Steve Nash or Mike Bibby.

I like them both, but I have the best shot on Earth[seriously], so I will take the shooting guard. :)

All depends on the players skills... If you're good at "handling the rock, seeing the whole court, and ain't worried about scoring, but helping the TEAM, then "point" is for you. If you can get open, and shoot consistently then the "#2" is for you!

Shooting Guard...that is provided you can shoot.
I was a 3 player in high school -- sort of a shooting forward.

What if you were a shooting point guard then you could be a good ball handler and a good ballhog.
