Whenever I suggest making a change in the daily (changes in diet, amount of television) I always feel like the boss that comes out of the air conditioned office to tell the shop workers that "We" have to work harder. Please note I do not see parenting as a Boss/Laborer thing. I am just using this as an example of someone wanting changes that the other person will have to carry out.

You do have to take into consideration that she is the one who will have to carry your ideas out, however, I think that husbands should be involved in day-to-day stuff as much as they can. Just be careful how you make suggestions...don't infer that she's doing it wrong. Sometimes getting another perspective is important. My husband has good suggestions. He always makes me feel like I'm appreciated, though, and that if I don't think it will work that's totally cool with him. I'm sure your wife wants to feel like this is a partnership and partners help each other out. If you help as much as you can when you are home, I'm sure she won't be offended.

Team work! If you are watching them do it your way and let her see how well it worked. Don't tell her how to do things, it's a hard enough without someone saying you're doing it wrong.

you need to raise the kids as a team - her input is as important as yours, maybe more so because she has to implement it
