Well, whey is what is left after most of the protein is removed from milk to make cheese. There is protein left in the whey. In fact Italians make a cheese called ricotta that is made from the proteins left behind in the whey. So whey proteins would just be milk proteins.
If you are asking if whey proteins are ok for a vegetarian diet then; if you are a lacto-vegetarian (use milk and cheese) it does meet your dietary requirements. If you are a strict vegetarian (no animal products), this would not meet your dietary requirements.

Its made from milk so I would say its ok for vegitarians but not vegans. Whey is a type of protein that asorbs into the body quickly so its good for being used imediatley before or after working out.
