DEFINITELY in writing...I always find myself stumbling over my words when I'm talking, but with writing I can form my thoughts better. Also with writing you can take more time to figure out how to say things and can always change things if they don't turn out right - You don't get a lot of second chances after you put your foot in your mouth. I love writing and prefer writing over any kind of verbal communication - Especially when it's something that I must be articulate with.

Writing

Both, even though I can better express everything I want to say in writing. You have time to put everything down on paper and tend not to forget anything you need to express. In having conversations they are two sided, you talk and someone listens, someone talks and you listen. Certain parts of the conversation may be left out because of this exchange of words. So writing can tell us a lot more than what a person can say in person.

I can usually express myself quite well both in writing and in person. I've had many years of practice with both, and all skills tend to improve with practice. Writing has an advantage though, because you can edit, rewrite, reorganize your thoughts, add new ideas, read over what you have written, consult references, etc., and continue to work on it until you are satisfied. The spoken word cannot be recalled.

As another poster mentioned, if I have the opportunity to write first and then present the material in person, then the personal presentation can be even better.

Ad lib expression is a different sort of skill than skill with the written word. Both require a kind of smarts, but the person who can present well in person and ad lib without preparation has a special gift.

I hope these thoughts help.

I express myself better in person that in writing. In writing I just cant come up with anything, because I know that I am supposed to express myself. In person I dont feel forced to express myself so I just do it without even noticing.

I prefer writing. When I write I have courage to express things I dare not say. When I write I can take my time and think about the things I want to communicate, but when I speak I feel hurried.
I am a well spoken person but when I write, I am both elegant and eloquent.

So much better in writing, well there is the problem that people can missread writing though and take something to be sarcastic when it wasn't meant to be, or vice versa. But I am kind of a shy person so unless I have known the person for years and I am good friends with them I can say so much more, and much more elegantly in writing.

Also you can't be intemedated by someone when you are writing to them.

it is sometimes better to express yourself in writting than in words. you may intend to tell someone how you feel in words but when you get face to face with them the words are lost and courage leaves. if it is something bad you have done and you can not bare to hear the shame again you placed upon yourself or it could simply be the expression on the other person's face that you cant bare to see, but they need to know this little piece of info then writing saves alot.

I think that I am able to express myself better in writing...I think that sometimes I get flustered in person and second guess my intelligence. With writing I have the luxury of holding off, coming back and re-writing, in person you only have split seconds to formulate a response.
