when i finish all work, i log off my desktop. when it comes to the users screen, i usually stand-by the computer for working later on. i usually do this everyday and it is perfect. but sometimes, not too often, does it happens that when i click on stand-by button, it says preparing to stand-by, but it never stand-bys. what i do is simply switch off the power. what might be the problem?

It's just a glitch in windows. It happens sometimes.

When it's necessary to turn off your computer without doing a proper shut down, hold in the power button until it shuts off. This allows your computer to turn off without damaging your hard drive.

Sounds like Microsoft as usual. If you have WinXP it is notorious for this. Also, it's not a good idea to "hibernate" WinXP either. You might want to check at kellys-korner.com to see if you can debug the problem. Good Luck.

The problem is your operating system. Make sure it has it's updates, and if that doesn't work forma group to sue Microsoft for loss of personal time. You should be able to get something for it.

I have learned never to fool with those things. Just have a screen saver and leave it on.

I had that problem too. Why don't you just leave the cpu on and turn off monitor

you should never leave your puter on stand by for long periods of time, your just asking for a virus, turn it off!
