best way to get rid from virus it to format the harddisk. However, if the HD is formated 2many times say for 300-500 times then it effects on the life of the HD. so no probs you can do.

Knoopix is the live CD that supports NTFS and also FAT files system. But using knoopix you can access files in FAT system completely, but files on NTFS can only viewed only.

To tell me formatting reduce the life of hard drive , That is baloney
the best thing to clean the hard drive and the virus is delete the partition, then create a new partition and format it it will be fat32 but if you want it to be ntfs do not format if you are installing windows xp windows xp will partition and format ntfs by if self, but if you are installing any windows that came before xp you have to format and after that convert a partition to NTFS, That translating to NEW TECHNOLOGY FILE SYSTEM.
Good luck.

helpful, u might want to create a sparkling partition. Technically, as many as 3 (for 3 universal walls) + 8 (logical disk rigidity paritions in the logical disk rigidity) = eleven operating platforms might want to be put in on a unmarried tricky disk. ok? Use Partition Magic if u are literally not very helpful the thanks to partition tricky disk making use of DOS training and so on... having suggested that, u can use the UNIX "fdisk" command from Linux/Unix/FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD to create the paritions and then press "w" to jot down down the transformations to the MBR, then reboot and deploy the diverse OS. Chow, sturdy fulfillment XX

Symantec had under support downloads to fix all known viruses. Other problems, either try system restore or insert you CD and choose option to repair windows.

if you have a virus on your harddrive, then you need to reformat. if you try installing a new operating system, it will give you the option to reformat before it installs. if you just install windows on top of the old one, you will still have the virus. oh and you can't just select everything and hit delete, it will still leave information, programs, and registries on your hard drive.
