Maybe because you know that rejection hurts and for you, the thought of doing so to others, raises some unconsious feelings around your own fear of rejection.

No one likes rejection, we all think it sucks. As has been suggested, you are a nice person. Nice people don't do the trample on peoples feelings thing very easily. Regardless of whether the object of their fears are nasty or not.

You are very kind hearted.. but eventually you will with age be able to stand your ground and do what you need to do to keep yourself happy and sane.. Even if that means getting a few undesirable people out of your life.

You know there's such a thing as surrender to the "walk all over me" syndrome, achieved merely by refusal t stand your ground.
