The Clash debut album 1977. It's my favorite for many reasons. It sounds hungry to play. White man in hammersmith palis is considered the first world music song recorded by an American or U.K. band witjout roots in it. Songs like Janie Jones and Garage Band still sound so fresh today. The lyrics are about things that matter, a very social political album but done with street sense. Career Opportunities and Hate and War as great examples. Even the cover song I Faught The Law is one of the best reversions ever recorded I feel. It's sounds so vibrant and full of life. The album overall is agressive in it's stance but with sense behind it's reason and direction. At the time it came out it was a landmark album across many Countrys of the world. As The Clash was being called a punk band however, it was not pushed and was not of huge impact in the states as their stations rejected it. On the street level music scene in the U.S. it was regarded as one of the bravest albums ever made. Of course The Clash went on to become pretty big all over the world, but only lasted 6 years in all. They are also known as being the first white rock band to embrace New York Rap. World wide they are probably the most respected punk bands but their range of music far escaped the genre of punk or rock or reggae or any genre at all. The Clash was all about breaking down new barriers. They simply rule!!!

I wouldn't say I have an all-time favorite yet. I'm still young, and I wasn't really into music until a few years ago. But at the moment, I'm really into "Phobia" by Breaking Benjamin. Ben Burnley has such a powerful, emotional voice, and these songs are exquisite. Some people have said this album isn't as good as their first two, but I think it's their best so far. The first two albums were good, solid rock, but this one is softer and allows for a better showcase of the band's talents.

I can't pick just one, but some of my favorites are:

Alice Cooper- Welcome to my nightmare
A total package you can listen to it as separate tracks or as a full album.

Radiohead- OK Computer
It's like a full concept, I can never listen to just part of it though.

Prince- Purple Rain
C'mon... it's Prince!

NiN- Pretty Hate machine / The Fragile
In my opinion Trent Reznor is a brilliant studio musician- these two albums prove that. I produce and record a lot and am also a 'studio rat' so I love finding the nuances that are used while listening.

PS- A little sucking up: I enjoyed the concert I saw of your band last time you were in Ottawa Canada, I'm happy you are back!

Nine Inch Nails... The Fragile AND Pretty Hate Machine among many other albums. Why?... Who doesn't love Trent Reznors voice and lyrics?? The words to the music are like poetry and the music itself is awesome. I also love Tori Amos and all her albums her voice is the best... no other is nearly as good, and no one tops her piano.

By the way who is Amy Lee anyway?? I mean what are you talking about when you say "this is the real Amy Lee?? I have never heard that name before.

REM- Automatic For The People..

..not exactly party music but it is one of the most powerful records i know, because the songs explore issues and crisis in a mature and intelligent way.

Things like family fued and relationships in Drive, Monty Had a Raw Deal and Sweetness Follows don't explode into all-out silliness- instead they're sensible, kinda glum rock songs, made to reflect an image of normality and express human mortality. Throughout the whole album the lyrics are clever and the music can become surprisingly dark. And it has Everybody Hurts which is a classic.

And - trivia - it was the last album Kurt Cobain listened to before he blew his brains out. Truth!!

My favorite album of all time would have to be Origin by you guys. I really like your newer material such as Fallen, and Anywhere but Home, but I really liked your older stuff. Also, I am already in love with your newest song, "Call Me When You're Sober", so Origin may have some competition against The Open Door. I cant wait untill it comes out!! But seriously tho, I love everyone single album you guys got out, whether it be an EP from 1998 or be a new release in 2006. I love all of your guys' work and still think you guys are the best band in the whole world!!! I LOVE YOU EVANESCENCE!!! ROCK ON!!!!

At the moment it's:

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. Dreamy, heavily distorted and fuzzy rock and roll songs. It makes me warm & relaxed every time I listen to it. I Only Said is one of the best songs ever written.

Other notable mentions go to:

Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division for it's incredibly dark and introspective lyrics. Angular guitars and stark emptiness in one, makes it a classic.

F--ck the golden youth - Mint Chicks. Vicious tongue in cheek experimental art punk from 4 guys who dont care. Like The Mars Volta meets a New York hardcore band.

Hee-Haw! - The Birthday Party. It's so dark and malicious. Nick Cave sings like a man possesed and the guitars are unbelievably tight and scary. It's amazing how this band can make a song about smoking (The Friend Catcher) sound so intense and almost demonic.

Coldplay, X&Y. It's a modern classic, no matter how I'm feeling, their music always speaks to me, adds some insight about any situation I may be facing. They are also amazing musicians, and their tunes are always dynamic and catchy.

And let me say thank you, amy lee, for not selling out, you are a good example in a world where people sell their souls, beleifs and morals for money. The world needs good examples now more than ever.

Hi Amy , favourite album of all time, probably Beatlemania or as it was called in the US Meet the Beatles. I was ten when I got it, right around when Beatlesmania was breaking all over the world. It was fresh, had songs that were varied but you could dance and sing to them and still to this day when I hear all the old early Beatle tunes , my "little ten year old" heart jumps right to the beat and my mind takes me back to a much simpler time.

Birtha by Birtha. This was an all female group from 1972-73 but
they never got any recognition like Fanny but they have the best
Album around and it would kick *** even today. The lead singer
can sing sofly/sweet like on Tuesday or scream higher and longer than anyone I have ever heard on "Workin' On a Dream".
It is almost impossible to get their two albums but I did see it on
the internet as a double set on time. Look the up and read about
them they were awesome. One song is written by Ike & Tina Turner but I don't know if she ever recorded it called "Hen-Pecked
Man"
