they had words in the dugout and gibbons over reacted and got a bloody nose. this is lilly's last year under contract. they made up and there will not be any team fines. gibbons admitted he overreacted and lilly apologized for embarrassing the organization. gibbons had shea hillenbrand on the team who was known to have an attitude. lilly however is known to be a gamer. he just didn't want to come out. many times he gives up to many runs. gibbons must have seen it coming. he brought in a new pitcher and it still ended with a toronto loss after blowing a 7 run lead. none of this can be good for the team. toronto is in a tough division as it is. gibbons might need to cool it little and get back on the same page with his players. he has a good starting rotation and a great closer. they should be a bit better than they are playing.

Apparently, John Gibbons was yelling at him, while he was coming out to the mound...because Lilly (who I know personally) was already embarrassed at blowing an 8-0 lead so early, he just snapped when his manager confronted him on the field.

Lilly didn't want to come out of the game, and Gibbons didn't want to see anymore of him pitching, mostly because he gave up an 8 run lead.

That is unlike Ted to do things like that...but a manager should not show up players on the field either. On top of that, a player should NEVER address the manager in that tone, until they are out of camera sight.

The situation was more the manager's fault than Lilly's. Gibbons went after Lilly in the clubhouse after Lilly had been removed from the game. The fact that Gibbons got nailed served him right.

This is Gibbons' second such incident involving one of his own players this season. He clearly cannot handle players and should be fired.

I read that in the tunnel that goes to the clubhouse, Gibbons came and pushed Lilly from behind. They say that no punches were thrown but Gibbons got the bloody nose somehow. They also say that they don't expect there to be any punishment to either of them.

He felt he should of been left in the game and had an argument with Gibbons which resulted in Gibbons getting a bloody nose.

they had an 8 run lead in the 2nd and he gave up 7 runs in the 3rd and was pulled. you could see him arguing with the manager on the mound and all hell broke loose when they went into the tunnel.

Look at the manager as well. This is his second incident with a player.
