going back to school after 17 yrs of being out of school?

what can i expect for college life to be like again? i am going because my job is paying for most of the courses and they are job related.

i did that. i got my ba in social science and i am currently in the masters program. i found that the average age in my university is 32 years. so do not feel bad. i loved having the opportunity of going back to school. i have my degree!! only one third of the population have achieved that. it is an accomplishment and a thing that no one can take away from you. you should go and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

i fit right in with the college people. at the university level, i found that those there were there because they wanted to be there, not because they HAD to be there and i felt no dislike or negativity from students or professors. everyone admires anyone who tries to better themselves. i have 20 year old friends, male and female, and 60 year old friends that i made while in school (i will not admit my age, but i was hanging out with those in their 20s. they had the same classes i had and same interests. we did study groups and you name it, we worked together and it was great!), i would encourage you to go and make the most of this golden opportunity!

I may not can help too much. I went back to school after 20 years of being away. Life on my campus with most students who work, and go to school is busy for them; they don't really get involved with the extra-curricular activities, and I can understand why. They are to busy with family life and school work. So, much depends on your schedule. I find all of the students on my campus friendly. The hardest thing to adjust to is getting all the work done in time. As every year goes by for me, I have noticed that it gets more difficult to keep up with the pace.
